When it comes to manufacturing aluminum parts, there are two primary methods that are used: forging and casting. Both methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, but in recent years, forged aluminum has become increasingly popular due to its superior performance characteristics.
One of the main reasons why forged aluminum is considered better than cast is because it is much stronger and more durable. This is because the process of forging involves hammering a solid piece of metal into shape, which aligns the grain structure of the material and makes it much denser. In contrast, casting involves pouring molten metal into a mold, which can result in air pockets and other imperfections that weaken the material.
Another advantage of forged aluminum is that it tends to be lighter than cast aluminum.
